Xaxis Taps NBCU Sales Exec As Head Of Client Engagement

Jason Webby brings the demand-side platform a wealth of sell-side experience from his time at both CNBC and The Economist.

WPP Group’s programmatic ad platform Xaxis has tapped former SVP of sales at NBC Jason Webby as SVP of client engagement.

At CNBC International, Webby was in charge of overseeing all commercial activity, spanning broadcast, digital and mobile advertising, custom and native content creation, research and event sales with NBC’s international partners.

“Xaxis holds an impressive lead in providing advertisers and publishers with the most comprehensive and effective programmatic offerings in the industry,” said Webby.

Before that, Webby worked for The Economist Intelligence Unit with commercial responsibility of global sales and client partnership development after a stint as the SVP of advertising for The Economist and oversaw all commercial and ad sales activity across print and digital publication and conferences. His international experience will lend itself well to Xaxis as it expands. Just last month, Paul Dolan of Xaxis’s mobile performance platform Light Reaction, predicted that their market for mobile commerce would grow significantly in Asia, and China specifically.

Jason Webby“Jason brings an unparalleled understanding of the needs of both global advertisers and the world’s largest media companies to Xaxis with experience across all manner of digital and broadcast activations,” said Matt Sweeney, CEO, North America at Xaxis. “He will play a key role in growing our direct client business in the U.S., developing strategic partnerships and launching new data and tech products that enhance our lead as the industry’s leader in programmatic capability and performance. We are pleased to welcome him to Xaxis.”

The location marketing world isn’t solely limited to the U.S. anymore. Whether it’s Kontakt.io in Poland, Blesh in Turkey, or Vicinity Media in South Africa, great location-based companies and industries are popping up on every continent. That Xaxis recognizes the importance of a growing global market – and is hiring someone with the international experience to take advantage of that – bodes well for their own growth as they expand across national borders.

“Xaxis holds an impressive lead in providing advertisers and publishers with the most comprehensive and effective programmatic offerings in the industry,” said Webby. “The breadth and depth of the company’s offerings are unique in the programmatic space and I am excited to help lead the Americas business to new heights.”
