Uber Partners With Local LA Businesses To Offer Mother’s Day Discounts

The on-demand car service app takes another step in expanding its work with SMBs.

Uber Partners With Local LA Businesses To Offer Mother’s Day Discounts

In the week leading up to Mother’s Day, Uber is partnering with six Los Angeles local retailers to offer in-store discounts to users and their moms.

From May 4-10, any customer who takes an Uber to a participating retailer will receive a special discount, ranging from 20 percent of floral arrangements to a complimentary dessert. Uber’s partners include The Peninsula Beverly Hills Spa, Magnolia Bakery, Alfred Coffee & Kitchen, Bellacures, Fleurish Flowers, and Blushington.

It’s easy to see how Uber will benefit from the partnership, and also how it could be a boon to local retailers — ideally, more customers will take Ubers in order to access the discounts, and its retailers will up their sales in turn. Uber’s high-profile presence in LA certainly doesn’t hurt, either.

“For us, it is about an increase in traffic and sales, but [also] aligning with other great brands that make an impact on people in our city,” said Samira Far, owner of the Bellacures nail salon franchise.

This isn’t the Uber’s first foray into teaming up with local establishments. The on-demand car service recently launched Uber Eats, which provides specialty food items from a city’s most popular locales in minutes. Perhaps this is a sign of things to come from Uber, as it realizes the modern consumer’s appetite for relevant, customizable deals and deliveries.

Whether Uber continues to expand its partnerships with SMB’s or not, local retailers certainly stand to benefit from its limited time offers, like the Mother’s Day special. Collaboration between physical businesses that can provide unique in-store experiences and on-demand services like Uber seem born to service the desires of on-the-go consumers in today’s world.
